Confessions of a Fashion Addict

Confessions of a Fashion Addict

So this is how it all started..

Ever since I was a kid, I used to be a fashion addict. I have been addicted to fashion even before I came to know that a word called fashion existed. I used to play dress up with this pretty Barbie doll I had. That was my favorite pass time. Then I grew up a little bit..  and I started to “borrow” my mom’s saris and wrap it up and feel excited about it.

Fast forward to my teenage!!

Those were the days when I struggled for pocket money. Still, I managed to save up money for that maxi skirt I have seen in a showroom. There was this incident which made me realize my addiction for fashion. I was resisting the temptation of buying expensive accessories in college and there was this little accessories shop in my college where they sold very funky ear-rings. A pair of star-shaped ear rings caught my eye.  They costed 350 INR and my pocket money at the time was 1500-2000 INR per month.
I didn’t have the guts to buy those. I used to go to that shop daily and stare at them.
One day I didn’t find those ear rings and that literally felt like a mini heart break.
After two days, I found out that they have restocked them.  I didn’t give a second thought. I just bought them. Take it like this.. I have gifted myself a cute pair of ear rings.

Years passed.. and I grew up..

The frequency of online shopping has increased..

For my 21st birthday, I wanted to buy a pretty top and I have literally gone through Myntra, Amazon, Flipkart, Jabong, Limeroad, even Ebay. Trust me! I have spent more than a fortnight to shop for one perfect outfit and I found a very pretty top surprisingly on Ebay.
I started working in Bangalore and now I earned a free pass to spend as much as possible on whatever I like. Finally, I felt like a free bird.

I shopped and shopped and shopped until my bank balance changed from a decent 5 digit number to a mere three digit number.

But hey no regrets! Fashion boosts up confidence. The pleasure I get when I put on a new dress and when it fits me.. it’s incomparable.

The credit card companies were more than ready to provide a card for my shopping shenanigans. On top of that, there are sales going on almost every month. 50% off, 60% off, Myntra End Of Reason sale, Amazon Great Indian shopping fest, Flipkart Big billion day sale, Clearance sale.. what not!!

Recently, I have started shopping at Shein and Romwe too. I didn’t even leave Instagram. I started following all the pages which sell funky clothes and accessories. All I need to relax is to go through the online shopping apps and add all the dresses and makeup I like to the cart. Things got added to the cart in lightning speed.

There’s a weird pleasure to track each order and try them on when they arrive. It’s worth the wait. Whoever said that ‘Good things come to people who wait’ are one hundred percent right.

Every time I enter a shopping mall, I just tell myself “just one more top or one more dress or just one more pretty lip color”. I give myself excuses that I really need them.

It breaks my heart if I see some cute dress and I don’t purchase it. I get this nagging feeling in my head. The inner voice in my head starts shouting, “What if you just miss out wearing this? What if you look the best in it?” Then, I convince myself that I’m buying this to do justice to the outfit.
